The Guji Region of Ethiopia is a perfect setting for growing coffee. The rich volcanic soil has a deep red and brown top layer and is full of nutrients for the coffee plants to flourish. The land is semi-forested, which creates a natural canopy for the coffee to grow and also benefit from the decomposing debris of the forest floor. Higher altitudes allow the coffee cherries to mature and ripen at a slower pace, which allows more time for the flavors to develop in the coffee. This microclimate in the Guji Region combined with the natural processing method result in flavor profiles rarely found anywhere else in the world. Bursting with notes of blueberry, honey, and peach, this coffee is great for both filter and espresso.
